We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! The day didn’t quite go as I had planned. I was really sick and my husband hosted Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner with our families pretty much solo. I’m thankful for being in nesting mode, because the gifts were at least purchased a few weeks in advance. (None of them would have been wrapped though without his help!) But everything else, my hubby took care of!
Now, the holiday is over, and all that’s left is remnants of wrapping paper, mounds of boxes and very full hearts!
Christmas is always hard for me to see pass so quickly. All the anticipation and build up for one special day, 5 minutes of present opening and meals that are consumed way too quickly. I had a huge list of fun “Christmas traditions” that we didn’t get to cross off the list this year. Being pregnant, I had to let a lot of that go. But you know what, as hard as it was for me to let go, my kids were just as happy and excited as they would have been if we did all the things.
Sometimes as parents, I think we put so much pressure on having the holiday magical for our kids, that we miss the magic ourselves. As I laid in bed for 4 days during Christmas, I got so many extra snuggles and quality time with our kids that i know would have been missed if I was too busy getting all the traditions checked off the list. We read our advent cards every night and talked about the true meaning of Christmas. It was perfectly imperfect and I’m so thankful!
But now that Christmas is over, I’m ready to declutter and get organized! We are kicking off January with some new content on the blog here that we are excited about and hope you will be too. Happy New Year, I know 2019 is going to be awesome!
