January often brings the need to organize for me. I want to donate everything I own and simplify my life! Why is that?! Maybe because the Christmas season is full of consuming all.the.things, and once it’s over I just want to have my home back and get rid of all the clutter that the holidays bring.
When Danielle from Wurth Organizing reached out wanting to help organize our panty, I jumped at the opportunity! We moved in October into a rental and I was 4 months pregnant and feeling awful. I usually try and organize as I move, which makes keeping things in the right space so much easier. However, I just didn’t have it in me this time. So, of course, when there isn’t a home for every item, “said item” gets shoved somewhere out of the way. That was our pantry and hall closet. I’m slightly embarrassed to show you the before pictures, but in the spirit of a great before and after, here you go!
Clearly, we needed help! I actually really love to organize, but being pregnant and working full time had me exhausted and not motivated to do it. Having Danielle there to share her tips and tricks was so helpful! She got right to work and took everything out and put things in categories. One of the things I wanted to focus on because I am in a rental, was not spending a ton on storage solutions that weren’t permanent.
When I did my previous house, we knew we would be there for a long time, so spending some money there made sense.
I purchased these bins from IKEA (similar ones are here on Amazon). They don’t sell the ones I used online at IKEA, but are worth the drive to the store because they are $4 and look exactly like these that are $14! Danielle then asked me to gather anything else we had in the house that could be used for storage. I found some fun vintage finds that had been sitting in the garage, and she put them to use!
Danielle talked to the boys and asked them to show her what they used most to make lunches and breakfast in the morning before school to streamline that process and make everything accessible for them.
After 2 hours, we had tackled these two spaces and I am so happy with the result.
Now, these photos will never make it into a magazine because we didn’t spend hundreds of dollars on matching baskets with the nicest labels, or glass containers to put goldfish in, however, it is so functional for us and really works with our lifestyle. Organizing doesn’t have to be expensive!
If you are feeling overwhelmed with where to start in organizing your space, give Danielle a call! She is incredible and easy to work with, plus has some amazing ideas that will make your life so much easier!
