Christmas to me is all about spending more time as a family enjoying each other’s company and celebrating our Saviors birth. So when I am decorating for Christmas I want our house to be a warm and inviting space for us to relax and spend that time together! My style is very simple and I keep that true at the holidays as well with a color palette consisting of black, white and natural pops of green!
Christmas time makes it really easy to add natural elements with fresh live garlands, a real Christmas tree (I’m from Washington state so this is a must!), warmth with soft lighting, lots and lots of candles, warm lights on the tree, and soft cozy textures that can easily be added with pillows.
As you all know, Coley and I are always doing our best to mix new decor with vintage pieces which provides a classic timeless look bringing character to any space. I have collected brass candlesticks throughout my travels over the last few years and love using them for everyday decor but also during the holidays. Sometimes it can feel a bit daunting to start collecting vintage items as they have the tendency to be pricey but you just have to start. Its one of those things you just start purchasing here and there, add them gradually. Thats the fun part of starting a collection is the stories and all the fun places that make each piece unique and tell a different story. And they make for a perfectly mismatched collection!
Don’t let the stress of the holiday season prevent you from adding simple touches to your home to brighten your space and bring some holiday magic to the place you call home. Always use what you have to start and pick up items as you go to create the perfect look!
