Bear with me as I add yet another element to the clipboard wall in my sewing room that I have talked about here and here. Do you guys ever have projects like that that just never end? It’s not because I am not satisfied with how it was, it’s just that Pinterest keeps finding new ways to inspire me. So last week I saw this pin and thought it would be perfect to add to the already existing cork panels on my wall.
I however did not love the contrast between the bright white and the cork. Subtlety is more my thing, so of course I thought of GOLD…..gold is subtle right? hahah. I say if done right it can be. First thing first I pulled down my cork and taped off some 2 inch stripes. I thought about doing a nice chevron pattern, but laziness won out, because quite frankly the idea of measuring out and then cutting each piece of tape seemed too daunting and who am i kidding I love me some good stripes. So I did one in horizontal and one in vertical to add some cohesive variety.
Then I sprayed them with Krylon Metallic spray paint in Brilliant Gold. Which for the record is pretty great….I will soon be trying to come up with more projects for it’s left overs.
Again going for a more subtle sheen than a blaring stripe I just did one coat. I think it worked pretty well, it is not perfectly even as it was a tad windy…..and the cork is kind of an uneven surface, but it works with the look I was going for.
And here she is all finished. This picture actually shows the paint more I think that it appears in real life because the flash makes it a bit reflective. But it is defiantly a fun detail. You could do many fun things with this….different designs or even writing a child’s name. I see lots of potential with this project.
