Personal bio: I have been a professional Interior Designer for the last 30 years focusing on commercial and corporate interiors. I have been working part-time since my son turned one (he is now 16). This has allowed me to focus on my true passion- creating something new from something old.
This is my third time moving to AZ. I first moved out after graduating college with a few friends. After a few years in CA, my husband and I moved back for about ten years during which time our son was born. After moving to Madison WI for eight years we headed back to AZ and we love it here ( no more snow!) I love dogs, traveling, being creative and entertaining with friends.
How did you start your business & why? I always loved repurposing items. I decided to make my first gear table when I found a beautiful blue pulley in IL then the perfect base in CA. Once it was done I thought that I could totally sell it! I didn’t as it was my first and my inspiration in starting my business. I love the creative process of determining what to make with items some would see as unusable junk.
How would you best describe your style and the items you sell? Vintage, salvage and industrial repurposed furniture, lighting and accessories. Our biggest feature item is our gear tables. I have loved expanding our lighting too.
When was your first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market? As a vendor it was September 2014. As a customer it was back when you were small in the parking lot.
And what is your favorite part about the event? Or a favorite memory? I love meeting new people – both vendors and customers. The positive comments are so reinforcing and I truly appreciate it.
What’s your favorite place to get away in the summer? We drive back to the Midwest for 3-4 weeks each summer to see family and friends. We visit our favorite city – Chicago! We drive so I can “pick” items for my business the whole time. Love it!
