It’s SPRING, yay! If you are anything like me, your spring calendar is filled with the following: baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, Easter celebrations, and Mother’s Day. . . . whew. . . it’s going to be busy, and so.much.fun! Besides getting to spend time with loved ones, one of the best things about all these events, is getting to give a gift. I love giving gifts. . . almost as much as I love wrapping them! If I could spend all day every day in a paper store filled with pretty wrappings, and ribbon, and cards, and things covered in glitter, I would. . . however I have a small child which unfortunately is not conducive with that type of store. So I thought to myself, why not make something special to add to the gifts I am going to be giving this season. Below is a tutorial on how to make a tissue paper embellishment.
Step 1
Cut your tissue paper. The size will depend on how big you want your flower. My tissue paper squares were about 6” x 6” and made a medium sized flower. I cut 10 equal squares.
Step 2
Stack your tissue paper and fold like in an accordion style.
Step 3
Once you have folded the accordion, fold in half.
Step 4
Where you made a crease in the middle of the accordion, tie a pie of string. . . this can be any kind of string, yarn, twine. . .whatever you have on hand.
Step 5
Cut the ends to resemble petals. I cut mine round, but you could also do a point if you want.
Step 6
This is the most difficult part. . . and you have to be very very gentle and very very patient. Begin to carefully full each layer of the flower up.
Step 7
Put both sides of layer up to the center. You may need to play around with it and adjust the layers to create the look you want.
Step 8
Ta-Da! Attach to your package and you are ready to go!
I love how simple this is and how customizable it is by color. Receiving a thoughtful gift is so special, and even more fun when it’s wrapped up pretty.
Happy Spring y’all!
