Yep, there it is. The Craft Closet in all its glory. My husband thinks that crafting is my number one hobby, and buying craft supplies is my number two hobby. Or addiction. Whatever. He also asked me if I have been hoarding fabric. What do you think?
Maybe a little. Anyway, I digress. This post is supposed to be about organizing, not my mental problems.
Around the middle of December, I start to get the organizing itch. Maybe it’s the anticipation of the fact that I have thirty cousins, and they all buy gifts for the little people. Or maybe it’s all the time I spend in the craft closet disaster searching for gift tags. Whatever it is, it keeps me motivated for a few weeks, and I’m focusing all my attention on that wreck you see above. As everyone knows, the first step in any organizing project is the surf the organizing blogs. This is also my favorite step! Here’s some of my inspiration.
I love how she utilized the door! Find the original post at Simplicity in the South.
Next comes from what I think is the best organizing blog out there, I Heart Organizing. This is her closet under the stairs reveal. As soon as I saw this, I knew I wanted that storage unit from IKEA. When I dug out my IKEA catalog (which may or may not have been in the bathroom) I found that a similar storage unit just happened to be on sale for half price – ONLY on that day. Pack up the kids, snacks and the hubby and head over quick! Did you know that IKEA has a free play area? It was my dream come true! So a quick trip and i came home with two of these. They worked great. And I used the big baskets to go through all the, ahem, junk that was in the closet. They fit perfectly in the closet, and I was so excited to put them in. I also used a hanging organizer that I already had to organize my fleece, terrycloth and minky fabric. Next up? Paint the ginormous four drawer file cabinet I got off Craigslist, and file that pile of fabric like this. I can’t WAIT to be able to open a drawer and see everything I have all lined up…eeeeeee I’m so excited! I’m hoping to finish this project in the next few weeks and share it with you. Stay tuned!
