Last week, we got a little surprise here in sunny AZ. Water fell from the sky. And then it kept falling for like three days. These crazy little outside lovers got a wee bit stir crazy, and Mama had to come up with something new to keep them busy. A girl can only do so many puzzles, ya know what I mean? I saw some adorable little turkey cookies on pinterest a few weeks ago, so I tried to duplicate them with what we had on hand. Here’s the Beehive’s version.
First, we made some sugar cookies for the bodies. Did you know that they key to great sugar cookies is to use powdered sugar instead of flour when you’re rolling them out and cutting them? Yep. thanks Alton Brown and your weird food science show.
For the turkey “tails” we used some frosting to stick three pretzels to the back. I used homemade powdered sugar frosting, because that’s what I had on hand. It worked well, because it hardens when it’s dry. Once the tails were dry, we stuck chocolate chips on for eyes, and I used the rest of the frosting dyed yellow to pipe little beaks.
Not only were these fun, but they were delicious…and even daddy approved!
Happy Thanksgiving!
