Raise your hand if you think that buying birthday cards is just getting ridiculous. Seriously, four bucks for a card? Come on, people! Since June is riddled with birthday parties, and I am just NOT coughing up four bucks for a card every time we go to a party, the Busy Bees and I got crazy with the paint and created these cute stenciled cards.
All you need for this project is
Paint
A template – Since we were making these for Father’s Day and a boy birthday, I googled vintage truck template
Heavy cardstock to make the stencil – I used an old file folder
Exacto Knife
Cardstock for the cards
Tape
Toy cars
Once you have printed out your template, put it on top of the cardstock (or file folder for the other cheapskates like me) and carefully cut it out with your exacto knife.
Put your finished stencil on top of the card and tape it down WELL. Tape like crazy, folks. You don’t want it shifting around.
Then, let the kiddos roll their toy cars in the paint and roll all over the stencil! Easy and fun!
Be sure to pull the stencil off before the paint dries, and there you have it. A simple and fun Father’s Day or birthday card for a truck loving dad or boy. And this technique would be easy to use on any template, for any occasion. Use sponges to stencil a sea creature, or dip the My Little Ponies’ hooves in paint to fill in a horse outline.
