With much anticipation, we can now reveal the Deserving Mom Nursery! Let us tell you, we are thrilled with how it turned out!
VITALS: two cribs, one dresser, one changing table, one big comfy chair, three antique crates, two rugs, countless vintage items, 30 donated items from 22 Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market Vendors, and lots of love for these two little girls!
(At the end of this post, we have a video highlighting this project start to finish. Make sure to check it out!)
Josh and Laura Roth had a rough year. Finally pregnant after years of infertility, they were involved in a car crash totaling Josh’s vehicle. A couple of months later, thieves broke into their Tempe home, taking priceless family valuables and leaving a gaping hole in their side door. In addition, they had little time and money to pull a nursery together for the impending arrival of their twin girls. They were in need of a bright spot.
Megan Jacobs, Laura’s best friend, noticed our post on social media requesting nominations for a “deserving mom” who could use a Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market style makeover for a room in her home. Her kind and loving words about her friend won us over.
We selected Laura as our winner and surprised her in early February to let her know we would be invading her home and giving her the nursery of her dreams!
Here is what the nursery looked like that day…
The Roths had just painted it blue (“Lake Winnipeg” by Dunn Edwards) and stripped the floor for new carpet. They had one crib and a dresser, given to them at a shower. That was it. The babies were set to arrive in less than a month and our work was cut out for us!
Here is Lindsey gathering a handful of beautiful items that our vendors so generously donated. We have an adorable dream catcher by Savannah Ashley, the cotton added the perfect dainty touch to the room and was donated by Junk in my Trunk Boutique and the yellow vintage drawer we used for holding diapers was donated by Patina Vintage Design.
We even had out tiny junkers helping put together the cribs!
Coley adding a final touch with felt ball garlands from The Banner Shoppe to complete the wall with Letter Craft‘s handmade charming wooden letters.
After about two days of work, the room was ready for the big reveal… on LIVE TELEVISION. Yes, you heard that right, Tess Rafols from Good Morning Arizona on 3TV came and shared the moment Josh and Laura saw their nursery for the first time with thousands of viewers. In case you missed it, here’s the video…
Thank you, Tess and 3TV! We loved sharing that special moment with you.
Mallory Square Studio‘s donation of this cozy teddy and vintage books pairs perfectly with the vintage tin on our crate shelves from Thriftiques.
This comfy yellow chair (donated by Eyes of an Owl) adds a pop of color to the nursery and we can picture mom and dad sharing sweet moments with their girls in this corner. The fabulous diaper bag was donated by BabyLux, an adorable baby store in DC Ranch Marketplace. Other details include a print from Yellow Bungalow Shop, Hooks from Patina Vintage Designs, Nesting Tables from Thriftiques, Globe from Artful Melange, Mobile from Little Bee and Me, Hat box from Off the Dirt Road, Pillow from Audrey’s, pink scale from Everything Goes, picture from Kathy Zimmerman Photography, and curtain rod from Neighborhood Initiatives.
The pink phone donated by Sweet Repeats, clock from Off the Dirt Road, and lamp from Thriftiques brings an overall vintage feel to the room, partnered with this beautiful chalk board donated by Rusty Saturday and art by PixiePop Art.
When we saw these vintage stick ponies at Everything Goes, we knew they were perfect for this room!
The adorable hearts from Olivewood Designs framed by Vintage Addiction filled this spot above the dresser perfecty! The box from Patina Vintage Design holds a few books the Roth’s already had. The adorable mini-piano is from Thriftiques and the cotton is courtesy of Junk in my Trunk Boutique.
Thank you LinnyJane Vintage for contributing this adorable vintage yellow rug that brings the room together.
Without Industrial Collective donating this crib we could not have had KB Cute‘s floral sheets for these two babies to sleep sweet and soundly in and on! Polkadot Blanket by Maybee Blankets. Swaddle by KB Cute.
Thank you Suzi Marie Designs for donating the picture frames which add such a personal touch to the room of these sweet babies shortly after they entered the world. Unicorn head – Pockets and Posies Dream Catcher – Savannah Ashely
Our dear friend and crazy-talented photographer, Kacey Luvi was on hand to capture these amazing images of the finished nursery for sweet little June and Gentry. The vintage frame turned into hair bow collector from Thriftques, the felt balls from The Banner Shoppe and the wood letter cut-out from Lettercraft adorned with felt flowers from The Felt Flower Shop.
June’s crib is filled with this sweet elephant from Nina & Grapey, white pillow from Audrey‘s, and crib sheet from KB Cute.
Beautiful vintage light from Audrey’s.
“Some things are worth the wait” sign from Jaxn Blvd, vintage little red wagon turned shelf from C-YA Vintage Goods.
Gentry also gets an elephant from Nina & Grapey, in her crib, along with this cat & dog pillow from Fiber & Fire, and crib sheet from KB Cute.
The list of businesses who donated to make this possible is EXTENSIVE! We are overwhelmed by the number of vendors and friends who wanted to help bless this precious family. In addition to what you see in the nursery, Laura and Josh received:
Onesies from State48
Tank, mug and ONE MONTH UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIP (!!!) to Modern Milk.
Chestnut Fine Foods & Provisions in Arcadia supplied us with delicious scones, muffins and yogurt parfaits the morning of our big reveal.
Mama’s Cold Brew hooked up these new parents with two glass tumblers and stocked their fridge with their delicious cold brew coffee – which we all know these new parents desperately needed!
Full Revolution Foods donated healthy meals for mom and dad!
Blue Eyed Boys Photography donated a newborn photo session to the Roth family. Isn’t this such a sweet shot of their girls?!
We look forward to doing many more room makeovers in the future, but will always remember the Roth family as the first clients who trusted us with one of the most important rooms in their home. Thank you, Laura and Josh and congratulations on the birth of your beautiful girls!
