Have you ever been so stumped on re-doing a piece that it just sits there forever taunting you every time you walk by it? Well, this piece did that to me.
We moved into this house in February and I bought this piece from the owners. I knew it had great bones and could be really cute painted. So as soon as we moved in I painted it a light gray and planned on distressing it. Well it sat with one coat of paint on it until last week. I kept it in my living room because I knew I needed to finish it, but couldn’t get inspired by it for some reason. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore so I just grabbed a can of paint I had in the garage and started painting. I liked the dark gray, but it felt a little bland.
I am not a great artist and can hardly draw a stick figure, but I knew this desk needed a little flare. I had some small sample paints in yellow on hand, so I decided to test out my scribble abilities and figured I could always paint over it if I hated it. I didn’t love it at first but just went with it and once I distressed it and added some dark wax I really liked how it turned out!
