I am so honored to be sharing some of my insight from my experience and love for the Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market.
Decorating with vintage pieces is such a unique way to decorate your home. Each piece is filled with a history behind it while also bringing in originality. Junk in the Trunk has always been a go to for me to find such pieces. JIT Markets are filled with hundreds of vendors each bringing their own different curated finds to shop from. It’s literally impossible to not fall in love with booth after booth of vintage goodies. I have been attending JIT for years & each year it just keeps getting better. One of my favorite things about the market is that they are about community. Each market they partner up with a local nonprofit & market attendees can bring in specific donations for that organization. Also, a portion of ticket proceeds is donated to support other organizations as well.
Now, that you know why I love attending the Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market, here are some tips to help make the most of your experience. Whether going by yourself or with your girlfriends, dress comfortably. There is a lot of walking. Having some cash on hand will be a lifesaver for the booths that are cash only. Bringing a wagon has been so useful, although it may be hard at times to maneuver through crowds & booths, it does come in handy holding all of your vintage finds. If a wagon isn’t your thing, be sure to bring some sort of tote.
Onto when is the Best Time to attend: As the old saying goes…”Early bird gets the worm!!” Attending the first morning when the market opens is your best bet at finding the most unique pieces. First come first serve tend to be the lucky ones. Saturday is the Day to go. Although, I have attended the market on a Sunday afternoon and scored some great deals. Some vendors will discount the last day, to help thin out their inventory. So, don’t rule out Sunday’s market, because you could end up finding great pieces for a steal.
As far as tips on what to buy…Buy What Speaks To YOU!! If you Love it… Buy it!! It’s easy to get caught up on what we think we need because of current trends, but don’t. Those items will end up being regretted purchases. Have a plan of what you are searching for and where in your home you are going to put it. This will help you tremendously from purchasing items you may like but don’t have a spot for it. You may even take some time to think about it, while grabbing a Mamas Cold Brew or grabbing a quick bite at one of the delicious food trucks.
One thing is for sure; JIT provides a shopping experience that is like no other. With the thousands of items so creatively displayed, live music, food and drinks, attending Junk in the Trunk will be a day well spent & one you will mark in your calendar for the next event.
