Vintage Egg Retailer’s License with Bonnie and Clyde history – a fun kitchen décor piece.
This permit was issued April, 1971 and belonged to Bargers Grocery from Morley, Iowa. When we obtained this certificate (along with others such as cigarette, milk dealers license and egg retailers license) we were told that Bonnie and Clyde had visited this market and bought a Pepsi. The story is that they walked in, bought their Pepsi and were very nice. Is the story true? Who knows? When we asked for verification of this story they thought perhaps these permits would help. Needless to say these permits do not prove anything but what we can say is that there is “something” valid to the story as we didn’t hear this story until after we had purchased a door from the market and the tale was told. This account of Bonnie and Clyde had been passed down from two generations and we had no reason to disbelieve.
