Description
Stunning, in great condition! A hand-painted set made for drooling Collectors! A display rack of all of Charles Dicken’s keepsake spoon characters made by Franklin Mint, which was appointed by The Dickens House, a museum in London. Peter Jackson sculpted each character in 3D form that sits at the handle of the spoon. This set was made in 1981 to showcase “The Christmas Carol” characters. with the name of the character engraved in the spoon. There is; Mrs. Gamp, Pickwick, Madame Defarge, David Copperfield, Fagin, Sam Weller, Oliver, Micawber, Magwitch, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim, Scrooge and Little Nell. Each ceramic character is beautifully painted and the colors are still intact! The wood case measures 10 1/2″ x 14″ and is lined with a backdrop of black velvet. Spoons measure 5″ in length. There are a couple scratches on the bottom of the wood frame. All spoons are made of pewter and are in good condition. The Scrooge spoon (of course) has a bit of discoloration on the engraved front part of spoon. And on the back of the Sam Weller, Mrs. Gamp, Madame Defarge, Tiny Tim, Micawber and Magwitch has slight discoloration…which I would imagine a good pewter cleaning liquid would help. As you can see from pictures, it’s very faint. On the back of each spoon is the Copyright Circle, FM 81 and the initials P.J. for Peter Jackson, the British Artist that sculpted each Charles Dickens character.
