Business Name: Winifred Street
Shops where people can find you: Sweet Salvage, Green Table Gifts, Rusty Saturday, Scottsdale Marketplace, Alis Living Lifestyle Boutique, and many others listed on my website.
Personal bio: I grew up on Winifred Street in a small town in Southwestern Minnesota where I watched my mom create magic every day sometimes with very little to work with. Whether it was creating art/crafts, cooking, or junking she was a master and I miss her.
How did you start your business & why? I’m a collector of all vintage deliciousness, especially paper, ephemera, textiles, metals, and books. I’m also a collector of words, quotes, lyrics, messages, and little snippets that have made me smile and helped me throughout my life. When I created Winifred Street, I wanted to combine the two into a meaningful and mindful art experience and share it with others.
How would you best describe your style and the items you sell? Everything I create has a message or gentle reminder that I create on canvas, cards, tags, bookmarks, magnets, wood, and journals. Everything has a vintage, timeworn look with a distinctive finish.
When was your first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market? It was the one at Westworld where we were in the parking lot and some of the tents blew away. I don’t recall the year.
And what is your favorite part about the event? Or a favorite memory? The excitement, the anticipation, the energy, the people, especially Lindsey and Coley and the gang! I love it all.
What’s your favorite place to get away in the summer? We love the Pacific Northwest and try to get to Seattle or Portland where we can gorge on cherries and blueberries. We lived in Salt Lake City for 10 years and that’s also a favorite fall destination.
Thank you so much for sharing Terry. Now head over to Facebook and check out the FABULOUS Winifred Street!! And show her some JUNKIN’ LOVE!
