Business Name: Starshine Salon
Shops where people can find you: Merchant Square in Chandler; Rusty Saturday in Phoenix; My Front Porch in Gilbert; Green Table Gifts in Tempe
Personal bio: I was born in West Virginia and raised in Florida; went to school in Nevada; worked in Washington, DC; and moved to Arizona to marry my best friend, Ron Lackey. Many of you have met him; he is my constant companion and market helper (and my number one fan).
How did you start your business & why? When I moved to Tucson in 1994, I fell in love with Arizona’s community of makers. Before long, I was part of that community, making jewelry, clothing, accessories and home décor. I sold my products in a store that also featured vintage goods, and next thing I knew, I was in love with vintage, too!
How would you best describe your style and the items you sell? I make pretty things! I offer handcrafted jewelry featuring pearls, crystals, vintage buttons and touches of fiber; original design handcrafted display mannequins; mixed media art; and lots of home décor items, for holidays and every day. Some shopper favorites are my burlap hearts and Christmas stockings. I love to dye fibers and fabrics in pretty colors. I also specialize in vintage linens, sewing items, china, glass and hardware.
When was your first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market? November 2013
And what is your favorite part about the event? Or a favorite memory? My favorite part of Junk in the Trunk is meeting the shoppers and hearing about their plans for their JITT finds.
What’s your favorite place to get away in the summer? My favorite place to get away in the summer is my sewing room, with the air conditioner blasting.
