Business Name: Seriously Shabby
Shops where people can find you: Arizona Vintage Markets and Etsy.
Personal bio: Steve and Jonelle wish that they could be full time junkers! However, in the real world, Steve is a Systems Engineer for IBM and Jonelle is the talent behind SWTC and YarnZone.com yarn companies. Finding vintage and rusty treasures is their idea of fun and something they love doing together.
How did you start your business & why? The Creative Duo was inspired to launch Seriously Shabby as the foundation for their next chapter in life merging their creative and business talents into a new adventure that they created together.
How would you best describe your style and the items you sell? Many visitors will instantly recognize Seriously Shabby by their signature Steampunk towers that are always loaded with metal gears and other rusty, awesome pieces for home decor and creative adventures. Along side the rust, we have vintage doilies and linens, wine barrels, farmhouse/cottage/country decor, vintage leather and denim jackets, and some great pieces to make your own industrial lights. For Junk in the Truck we have some fabulous barn doors and vintage doors and windows from a recent trip. From California to Texas, we find incredible down home treasures to show off.
When was your first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market? We visited Junk in the Trunk last May as guests and were completely overwhelmed. It was beautiful to see all of the art, creativity and color in one place. We set our sights on becoming part of the event and can’t wait for September!
And what is your favorite part about the event? Or a favorite memory? We visited Junk in the Trunk as a family and because everyone was drawn to something different, lingering to look, standing in line to pay, or wandering off to see the next space – we all got lost. Once we regrouped, we had a great laugh about how amazing it was and how much time had gone by without even realizing it.
What’s your favorite place to get away in the summer? Every chance we get, we retreat to Jonelle’s hometown of Napa to spend time with family. Between visiting our favorite wineries and finding new sources for vintage treasures, we stay busy! Our last shopping spree took 2 trucks and 2 trailers to get home…. and its headed for Junk in the Trunk.
Thanks so much Steve and Jonelle! We hope your first market with us is nothing short of amazing! Be sure to look at Seriously Shabby’s Instagram to see what treasures they’ll be bringing to us this September!
