Name: Alex and Amanda Kolski
Business Name: Off the Dirt Road
Shops where people can find you: Thriftiques in Tempe & The Rustic Hutch in Mesa
Personal bio: I’m originally from Mesa, AZ & Alex was born and raised in Miami, Florida. We have 3 great kids & 1 grandchild. Alex is a U.S. Army veteran, serving 20 years & multiple deployments. With many military moves I’ve been anything from a pawnbroker to a bartender. We consider ourselves lucky to truly love what we do.
How did you start your business & why? With 2 kids still at home, this business combined my love for junk, my personal hobby, & retail background while allowing me the flexibility to still be a mom. It has since grown to be a full time job for both myself & my husband Alex.
How would you best describe your style and the items you sell? eclectic – We love to mix styles! We’re always on the hunt for “new” old things. I have an obsession with boxes, baskets, & cubbies. Alex creates a variety of art with wine barrel rings. It started out as soon as something for him to do but has turned into a wonderful form of art therapy for his combat related PTSD & Traumatic Brain Injury. His items proudly boast a “Veteran Made” tag.
When was your first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market? May 2013
And what is your favorite part about the event? Or a favorite memory? I LOVE the energy & excitement of the whole market! Beautiful displays, unique items, & watching customers find that perfect piece!
What’s your favorite place to get away in the summer? We love taking family road trips to see the country & find good junk for fall markets.
Thank you so much for sharing Alex & Amanda! Head over to Instagram to see what Off the Dirt Road is prepping for the market!
I would love to shop here but what is the address and phone number?? I live in north Phoenix, so I will need specific directions!

In addition to our markets two times per year in Scottsdale, AZ Off the Dirt Road just opened up a new store at 323 S. Gilbert Road, Suite 107 in Gilbert, AZ. They are open limited times throughout the month so I would suggest checking their social media accounts to confirm times. Thanks!
