Hi Ya!
My name is Mindy, and I am thrilled to be blogging over here for Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market today!
Some of you may have seen this picture we posted on Instagram earlier this week from a recent treasure hunt at Goodwill.
Coley a I both laid on eyes on this GEM (yes, you read right, gem) at the same time, and we both squealed with excitement. Granted, the iPhone picture may not do this beauty justice, and at first glance you may have thought, that’s is the ugliest 70s style couch I have ever seen, but trust me, when styled the right way, this couch is total steal!
Before styling a room, I always like to pick a statement piece. In this case, this couch would be perfect. How so you ask? Take a look at this mood board perfectly titled “flea market chic” from Teal and Lime (www.tealandlime.com).
Now, I know the couch in the inspiration is brown leather, but what if you swapped the patterned chair to a solid color and inserted the floral couch for the leather? Do you see where I’m going here?
What you can’t see very well in the iPhone picture is that the couch has some blue in it. Use blue accents to tie it all together. I would die for these chairs from Crate and Barrel.
Lastly, keep your other furniture in the room simple. I love the simple clean lines with a rustic twist in the mood board coffee table and hutch.
I hope this gives you a little inspiration for the next time you are at your local thrift store. . . . don’t just pass over the dated couch, it may just be a gem in disguise.
We want to know…. Do you have a statement piece you love?
