Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market to donate portion of ticket sales to The Shine Project
September 8, 2016
SCOTTSDALE, AZ: Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market will donate proceeds of ticket sales from an upcoming event to The Shine Project of Phoenix, Arizona. Donated monies will directly benefit a young woman who aims to be the first generation of her family to graduate college. That student, Jasmine Nolan, currently attends The Art Institute of Phoenix, where she is pursing a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Fashion Design.
“Receiving this scholarship from Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market ensures I will be able to graduate with no debt,” said Jasmine Nolan, The Shine Project and Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market scholarship recipient. “I feel so grateful and blessed to be chosen for this and am excited to pursue my career in the fashion industry!”
The non-profit The Shine Project employs inner city Phoenix youth to help make fashion accessories and fund college scholarships. Ashley LeMieux founded the organization after serving as an aid in an inner-city high school and noticing the need for better access to higher education.

“Since 2011, The Shine Project has awarded more than 40 scholarships to deserving youth,” explains Ashley LeMieux, The Shine Project Founder. “Scholarship recipients are also employed byus so they can be mentored and guided every step of the way. Currently, we employ 15 inner city students, including Ms. Nolan.”
Ashley LeMieux sold some of her organization’s jewelry as one of 26 vendors at the first Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market back in 2011. Now, the market hosts more than 160 vendors and celebrates its fifth year in business this month.
“As we look back over the last five years, we have been so incredibly blessed by all of our shoppers, vendors and extended junking family and can’t say thank you enough, ”explained Coley Arnold, Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market Co-Founder.
“When discussing how to celebrate our five year anniversary, The Shine Project immediately came to mind,” said Lindsey Holt, Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market Co-Founder. “We are thrilled to play a small part in helping Jasmine achieve her goal to be the first college graduate in her family.”
