I have a confession to make – My name is Beth and I have never been in an Anthropologie. Yep, that’s right, I am an Anthropologie Virgin. But recently I received a gift card, so I have been perusing the website for something fun and unique. In the process, I have been so inspired! So. Many. Cute. Things!!!! Only one problem…my name is Beth and I am a cheapskate. I just can’t bring myself to pay for the said cute things.
But inspiration is free, and there was plenty of it. My first project had to be knocking off this adorable Peter Pan collar tee.
novelty collar tee
While I don’t have a tee shirt with little horses on it laying around, I definitely have a few tees that could use a little sprucing up. Here’s what you need for this project.
A tee shirt with a round collar. Mine’s from H and M.
Heat and bond. This is what you will use to attach the collar to the shirt.
Cute fabric for the collar. The pattern mixing possibilities are endless! This is a vintage fabric from my Grandma’s stash, so that makes it even cooler.
A pencil and some scissors.
An iron and a surface to iron on.
The TV remote control. Seriously, how do i get so many random things in my pics? at least it’s not a food item…
(Please forgive the horrible lighting on these pics.)
Lay a piece of Heat and Bond on the shirt, and draw the collar. After I drew the collar, I fused a big rectangle of fabric to the Heat and Bond. Then I cut it out, flipped it over and traced it, so I had a mirror image. Peel the paper off the back and fuse it to the tee shirt. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezie!
If you are not the sewing type, the project can end here, I would just be sure to turn it inside out before washing. Or better yet, hand wash. you might get a bit of fraying, but I think that’s kind of cute. If you want, run a small straight stitch around the edges for a little more durablilty.
Here is my attempt at “styling” my new shirt. I am a bit fashion challenged, but I think this is a pretty cute outfit! I feel like the collar makes thie tee kind of ladylike, so I added some high waisted sailor shorts, wedges and a straw bag. I think a big gold watch would be cute too, but since my watch is, um, made by Nike, my gold bracelet is standing in.

Now, off to see if I can fly in my Peter Pan collar…
