I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! My kids and husband spoiled me and I even got to take a nap. Oh the things that get us moms excited now right? If you came to the market, you may know the news, but if you missed it,

We have a fun announcement…

Lindsey and I are so excited to partner with West Elm. Now time to get busy on projects so we have things to sell!

Here is a desk that I finished this weekend. I don’t have before pictures, but I love how it turned out.

I got a new camera yesterday and I love the quality of the photos. Its the Sony Nex 5; basically a point and shoot with changeable lenses. I am excited to actually learn how to use this camera. I had a Nikon D40 (that I lost) and I never learned how to use all the fancy functions. I am promising myself I will actually take the time this time around to learn. Wish me luck!

Apparently my husband was testing it out because when I went to edit my desk photos, I found this little gem in there. I love this picture of my oldest, Baylor.

A quick (and messy) Mother’s Day Project

Last year’s cute handmade Mother’s day gift was an epic fail. We made those adorable handprint butterflies, let them dry, and cut them out. Then I could.not.find.them. Seriously? Who loses the adorable gift they made for their mother and mother in law? Me, apparently. But never fear, this year we did not fail! This was an easy project that was quick, but fun and thoughtful, especially for a Grandma who is far away. We made hugs! I got this idea from Pinterest (of course) and it originated from a really cute blog called Tons of Fun.
The fun part! paint the little people’s hands and make some handprints.

Measure the size of your hug.

Punch holes and add ribbon or yarn.

We added a message for our far away Grandma.

Here’s your hug! I know these will make the Grandma (and Grandpa) smile!

Fashion/Flashback Friday

Alright, so I know I’m one day late for #tbt (throw back Thursday), but who says I can’t start a new trend with #ff (flashback Friday)?! I love looking back on old photos and reminiscing on all those memories–some awkward, some hilarious, and some just plain weird. And with all this reminiscing comes all those past outfit photos! Now, I haven’t been on this Earth long enough to worry about those awful 80′s trends (PTL!), but I must say the 90′s weren’t so hot either. Here are some of my past outfits (many of them are selfies; I apologize in advance)…some good, and some not so good…enjoy!

On Being Neighborly on May day

I hate to admit it, but I am not very neighborly. I get home, pull into the garage and shut the door with a cursory wave at a neighbor (if I have to). But lately, the beautiful weather has been bringing people out into their front yards, and even an introvert like me can’t help but stop and talk. It does make me long a bit for “the good old days” when people used to shoot the breeze in their front yards for hours. Maybe a little nostalgia will make me a better neighbor…someday
There is one day, however, that the Busy Bees and their mama are the favorites in our neighborhood. On May Day, May 1st, the Busy Bees deliver flowers to the front doors of our closest neighbors, a tradition that these little girls simply love.

These cones are very simple – just paper rolled up into a cone and secured with double stick tape. last year we used scrapbook paper, but since the Baby Bee has recently become an epic colorer, I let them loose on some cardstock instead. A hole punch, a ribbon and some flowers from your garden (or the clearance section at Fry’s) and you are all set to become a great neighbor. Throw in some super cute delivery girls and you will be the best neighbor ever!

The Little Bee always loves delivering our May Day goodies, especially when there happens to be a sweet Grandpa doing the crossword puzzle on his front porch and ESPECIALLY when said adorable Grandpa has a cat. The girl is obsessed.

Meet Ralph

Or as my kids like to call him “Bull Head”. We have a new addition to our family. Let me back up a bit…

I am part of this facebook auction site called Junk Girls Auctions. You should join, its fun and a bit addicting! Anyway, I was browsing the auctions and I spotted Ralph. I didn’t know that was his name at the time, but more on that later. One of our vendors was selling him and I immediately fell in love.

I have always wanted one of those cute animal heads from West Elm and Anthropologie, but I just couldn’t justify the $85 price tag. I snagged this baby for $35 plus a sample can of paint makes for a cheap statement piece! One of our other vendors Mary Rita named him Ralph and I thought it was a perfect fit!

Here he is now…

Ralph is now part of the family. The kids love him!
