A little over a year ago, three friends starting talking about this idea we had and how fun it would be to turn this little idea into a business. Well, 3 markets later, we are growing faster than we can ever imagine! Thanks to all of your support, our little dream has turned into a huge reality of fun and a lot of hard work!

We wanted to let you know that moving forward, Monique will not be part of planning the markets. This was a very tough decision for her, as she has grown to love all our vendors and shoppers. But, as a mom, wife and a full time employee, she felt as though she could not put the time and energy she wanted into the markets and not have her family feel the effects. She will still be around and will have her own booth at the market in November. Lindsey and I wish her and her family the best and are excited for what the Lord has in store for their adorable family. We love you MO!

I am sure she would love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment on here or our facebook page and send her some Junkin love!

Amazing Vintage Market!

Wow!  I am pretty sure that is all we can say right now.  We are blown away at the turn out on Saturday for our Vintage Market.  We are waiting for our pictures, but until then I wanted to share this great post from the chrysanthemum company.

The Trio wants to say a HUGE thank you to all our wonderful vendors!  We had a few that sold out of everything in their booth!  You are all amazing and we feel so blessed to have such a wonderful group!

As soon as we get the pictures (and get some rest), we will do a full recap.

Thanks  to all you who came out to shop.  We would love to see some of your goodies you found on our facebook page.

Fun at the Market

We have some exciting things lined up for the market next week!

We will have live music by Carson Parks!  He will be playing from 9-11 and will have his new CD available to purchase.

Cover Photo

Karen Scheffe from Elan Photography will be at the market running a vintage themed photo booth!  It is free and all you have to do is pay for your prints for only $15!  This is an unbelievable price that she is giving just to our Junk in the Trunk shoppers and friends.  Christmas cards anyone??  You won’t want to miss it!  She is amazing and this is a great opportunity to capture fun memories with your family and friends!

We are also offering DIY Demos throughout the day.

At 11:15 Trouve will be demonstrating how to use Annie Sloan paint!  They are trained and willing to share their secrets with us!

At 12:15 For the Love of Old will be demonstrating how to distress furniture to create that awesome old, chippy look.

At 1:15 Mandy from Mable Dear (and our wonderful guest blogger) will be demonstrating how to create those Zinc inspired letters, perfect for your kitchen.

All of these are included with your admission ticket!

As well as each admission ticket purchased will get you a ticket into our hourly giveaways from our amazing vendors!  More on that later this week.  So stay tuned.

Students from Young Life will be there raising money to go to camp.  They will be available to help carry all your fun vintage finds to your car!  We will also be raffling off this amazing mining cart from Modern Manor to help them raise money for camp!  Make sure to stop by and purchase your raffle tickets!

See you Saturday!!!!!

Shopping for a Cause

I had the privilege today to join 80 wonderful women helping send teen moms to camp to learn about Jesus.  We had our annual YoungLives tea fundraiser and it was so powerful to hear from these young moms and the way YoungLives has changed their lives and their family trees.  YoungLives is a group in the Young Life organization for teen moms where they can come and feel accepted and loved for who they are.  And guess what?  You can help too!  What do you have to do you ask?  Well, just come to our market!

A portion of all ticket sales will help support Young Life of Paradise Valley. Young Life is a non-denominational Christian organization that reaches out to adolescents in the greater north Phoenix area through caring adults that spend time with youth in order to empower them to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.

If you want first dibs on all the goods, early entry starts at 9am and is $8.  General admission is at 10am and is $4.  12 and under are free and after 3pm admission is free.

More exciting news…Modern Manor graciously donated this amazing industrial cart that will be given away at our show!  Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 and all the procedes will go straight to Young Life!

Most vendors will accept credit cards, but some can only take cash so there will be an ATM on site to use! :)

My Favorite Find

A couple weeks ago the Junk in the Trunk Trio had the opportunity to interview Serena from the Farm Chicks.

Serena

She launched a new business this week called My Favorite Find.  If you haven’t checked it out yet you should head over there, after reading our interview of course!  No you really should, she is amazing.  We have been big fans of the Farms Chicks for some time now.  Serena has an amazing eye for things chippy, rusty, & vintage!  All of our favorite things.

Junk in the Trunk Trio: When you find the time, what are a few of your favorite blogs to read?

Serena:  Herriott Grace, Heather Bullard, and Eat Drink Chic to name a few.  Sadly, I rarely find the time.

JITT Trio:  Who inspires you?

Serena:  My husband, Colin. He’s built such a good life for our family and I admire him so much.

JITT Trio:  What makes a great vendor?

Serena:  A great vendor knows how to curate a collection.  If it all makes sense together, it’s just so much more impactful.

JITT Trio:  If you had to pick your favorite find, what would it be & why?

Serena:  My all-time favorite find is the shirt I bought at a yard sale for .10 cents and sold for $860!

JITT Trio:  What are your favorite places to shop?  Locally or when traveling?

Serena:  In Spokane, I enjoy a local antiques shoppe, Roost.  One of my favorite spaces is there: Silver Suitcase.  I find lots of great props for shoots.  I love the Country Living Fairs in Ohio, Georgia, and Texas as well.

JITT Trio:  What aspect of junking do you enjoy most?

Serena:  I love being able to find something that’s unique.  I’ve never liked having the same things as others.

Thank you all for reading our interview and thank you Serena for taking the time out of your busy day to answer a few questions.   Serena also came back with a question for us.  She wanted to know what some of our favorite places were here in Phoenix because she was going to be coming here for a visit soon.  Do you guys have any great suggestions to add?  Leave a comment and let us know.  Thanks.  And be sure to go check out My Favorite Find it is a great new site!

Awesome Deal just for You!

Local Phoenicians, this one is for you!  I have great deal I get to pass on to our wonderful readers!  I actually went to a salon for the first time in a very long time!  It was time.  I got to talk to the owner and was bragging about you, and she wanted me to pass this deal on to you!

Before I share the deal, here are some pictures of her wonderful salon in North Scottsdale.

I think this room, besides her amazing talent, is what sets the salon apart.  After my highlights were added, I got taken to this separate room with dim lights, candles, and spa music.  Every hair service includes a 15 minute scalp and shoulder massage.  I have to be honest, I almost fell asleep it was so relaxing!  I didn’t want it to end!

She finished the service with a dry cut that was outstanding.  My hair feels weightless and it is so easy to style!  She also tinted my eyebrows to match :) I have never done that before.  Looked great!  I asked for a low maintenance color because I am a busy mom and don’t have time to go get a cut and color every 4 weeks.  She really listened and got a client for life!  Here is the finished product…

Ok, so I made you wait long enough.  She is offering our wonderful friends 15% off any service!  Call the salon and ask for an appointment with Jennifer.  Tell them Junk in the Trunk sent you and enjoy the new you!  http://www.jenniferandresalon.com/

Thank you Jennifer for this wonderful deal!  Make sure you post pictures on our facebook page of your new do!  :)

*I did not get paid to post this and all the opinions are my own.

Pass it Forward Update

I wanted to share what the Trio has been up to with the Pass it Forward Shine Project.  Remember the post last week sharing this awesome idea?  I love that is is simple, but can change someones day and not only that one person, but you can be a change for a ton of people just by being kind to one.  This week Monique baked cookies for her co-worker and passed the card to her.  There is a website that you then update your card number and what you did, and then can follow how many people are affected by that one act of kindness.  Remindes me of the movie Pay it Forward.  I am going to pass mine on today, so just maybe it could be to you!

Check back this afternoon for a new post with some awesome vintage finds from this week!  Can’t wait to share them with you.  I have to wait for good lighting so I can take some good pictures.

Have a great day!

San Diego Flea Market

Ok- I am not going to lie. I got my hopes up for this flea market. It wasn’t bad, but I was kind of disappointed. It was about 80% crap, 15% neat stuff and 5% really cool antiques. I did manage to still fill my trunk. Here are some shots from the day.

Anyone want some birds??

My mom and brother- aka partners in crime. That is my new oar I am pretty stoked about!

Because who doesn’t want a stuffed crow?!

Great place for scrubs apparently that can go with your new tube socks from the booth next door!

Here is a sneak peak at my goodies!
I also learned an important lesson. Always make sure your tow package is wired before you decide to rent a trailer! Apparently ours was not and I purchased this beauty in hopes to bring it home in our rented trailer. U-Haul went to hook it up and informed us it wasn’t wired. :( so I had to go back to the flea market and ask for my money back.

  Isn’t she purdy?

On the way home from that fiasco we stopped at Architectural Salvage. This store made me want to build a house! Here is some eye candy…

I didn’t buy any of this goodness because of the stupid trailer but it was sure fun to look at!!
Hope you are having a great weekend :)
