I have been waiting for a dining room bench for a long time. They are pricey and I am cheap so I just kept waiting.

Well… The wait is over! I got my bench! When I found her she was pretty beat up. (yes, I am calling my bench a girl)

I had to re-enforce the bench with some nails and hammer the preexisting nails in so it was sturdy.

I then sanded the crap out of her to make sure there were no splinters. My kiddos are going to use this so I was really careful about sanding it all the way down.

Then I had an inner conflict that took me a while to figure out. Paint and distress or stain to match our table?

I decided to stain it first so if I hate it I could paint over it later.

I used Minwax dark walnut stain but I wanted that same look of our table so I put it on heavy on some spots and light on others.

I really like how it turned out. I need to polyurethane it and will post pictures of it under my table later.
