Coley Arnold and Lindsey Holt first met at a church fellowship group for young, married couples and became instant friends. Bonding over the new journey of motherhood was the first commonality as Arnold had recently given birth to her first child, Baylor and Holt was pregnant with her first. Shortly after meeting, the two founders realized that they had more in common as they discovered their shared love of vintage treasures.

While adventuring through the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada, they began discussing their frustration over a lack of community and places to shop for vintage items in the greater Phoenix area. They joked about starting their own event so they could shop themselves. Their husbands didn’t laugh. They immediately saw a good business idea and encouraged their wives to pursue it. The first market was held in a friend’s backyard and they welcomed 23 vendors along with their own items that they had been saving for the event. The backyard market was a success with over 600 people showing up. There were cars parked along streets for several blocks in the neighborhood!

The founders knew they were on to something and began planning their next events and selected a venue, Westworld of Scottsdale, which would allow the market to grow for years to come. In 2015, they welcomed over 35,000 shoppers to their events. Growth and expansion continued in 2015 with an expanded 3-day Arizona market and the first out of state event in 2016 in San Diego, CA. Both Holt and Arnold are thrilled to announce several exciting new projects in the coming months as they continue to share their love for all things chippy, rusty, vintage and handmade.

I was born with junkin in my blood. When I was younger, I remember going to junk sales, estate sales and yard sales with my parents on a regular basis. Their house to this day is filled with antiques and all sorts of treasures that remind me of my youth. In high school, I used to search for the funkiest t-shirts I could find in thrift stores. The bottom line is that Junk in the Trunk Vintage Markets is a product of my love for junk. It’s been a dream of mine to have a place in Arizona (where vintage items are not as easy to find) where junk lovers can find quality vendors and unique items throughout the year.

I am blessed to have a family filled with craziness around the clock. Between my husband and my three kids, it never stops. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t trade them for anything……..well, maybe I’d consider it if it was a vintage industrial card catalogue or something like it.

Looking for junk isn’t just a job; it’s a passion for me. I started treasure hunting at a young age going to garage sales every weekend with my family. I love seeing someone’s junk transform to something beautiful that brings a smile to people’s faces. I am a wife to a wonderful Godly man and together we have three boys ages 7, 5 and 3.

I love design and using vintage pieces to bring warmth and tell a story in someones home. Finding the perfect piece is a true treasure hunt for me. Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market was born from a love of junk and my desire to have a community of like minded junkers that supported and encouraged each other instead of competed.
