The Finished Christmas Card Holder

504
Do you remember my post a couple weeks ago about making a Christmas Card Holder with these sheet music clothespins?
Well I’m back to show you what I ended up with.  Are you ready?
I used some twine and a few nails to create a zig zag with the twine to pin the clothespins on.  See here’s the finished product.  What do you think?

Our first Christmas card is up for display, actually, its a Thanksgiving card, they are way on top of it!

And to add a little festive JOY, I added these little pinwheels we made at the Get ‘er Done event!

I liked how it turned out.  I can’t wait for those Christmas cards to start coming, so I can display them!!!

How To Control The Clutter Of Bows & Headbands!

Today I have a fun little project for you that I have been working on for my little girl’s room.  There are a ton of ideas out there with ways to contain the clutter of a little girls ribbons, headbands and bows and here is what I decided to do for my girlies.
First I started with an assortment of ribbons and fabrics, a hot glue gun, a large frame, a few nails & a hammer (or a staple gun works great too).
I then cut a few strips of fabric and ribbons all long enough to fit inside the frame.
This is approximately where I wanted to place them all in the frame.
I then used small nails to attach each of the ribbons to the backside of the frame.  If you have a staple gun that would work much quicker, I however do  not have one, so I improvised.
Once each of the ribbons was attached to the backside of the frame securely, I trimmed up the ends of the ribbons & fabric strips so they weren’t hanging off the edges.
This is the finished product from the front.
I then decorated some clothespins to hold the headbands on each ribbon.  Do you remember just a couple weeks ago when I showed you how to modge podge the clothespins with the sheet music, well I used that same technique to attach burlap to a few clothespins.  And as many of you know how to do, I made up a couple fabric rossettes and hot glued them with some other fabric and ribbon to the clothespins.  Because we can’t have boring clothespins right?!
And here you have it, the finished product.  A headband/clip holder for all of your little girls accessories!
What do you think?
Are you all ready for the Thanksgiving weekend?  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend with your families.

DIY Antique Chair Shelf

Happy Friday everyone!  I found this antique chair on the side of the road in bulk trash (yes I did) and it reminded me of the chairs my grandma had growing up.  It didn’t have legs, and originally I wanted to add legs and use it as an occasional chair.  But then I got an idea to use it as a shelf.

I think this will make a great baby shower gift!  It will be for sale at our Holiday Shoppe!

Do you love the B pillow?  Me too!  Remember our fabulous guest blogger yesterday?  She makes these beauties and you can find them here.

Have a great weekend!

It’s Get Down to Business Time w/ Our Guest Blogger Mandy!

Greetings junkers! My name is Mandy and I will be your blogger for the day. I am a friend of the Trio, and more specifically the sister of Lindsey. I think I would have to say that I am only a part time junker, more of a crafter and sewer, when I have time DIYer, baker, blogger and avid pinner. Normally I blog about life and the crazy/silly/clumsy/random/ridiculous and awesome things that I do and happen to me. But lucky for all of you I just recently moved to the Phoenix area, and have yet to make lots of friends or go on adventures, and therefore have TONS of time for projects. Projects that I will be sharing with you. YAY!
So because I know you are all thinking enough about you let’s get this show on the road. I give you my Coffee Filter Wreath that I made at “Get ‘er Done,” Saturday. Of course it is a project that I saw on Pinterest. The pindid have a short tutorial that totally works, but I made some small changes, so with the help of some handy photos I will give you my quick modified tutorial below. This is what we are going for here:
The first step is of course to gather your supplies. You will need:

A Styrofoam wreath
Coffee filters
straight pins
snacks and
friends to chat with or a movie to watch
I used the brown coffee filters, and I would recommend them for you as well, unless you really want a white wreath. The brown gives them a nice weathered natural look. It should also be noted that this whole project rang in at about $3.48 – and I would say it is a VERY low crafting skill level. Anyone can do it.
So now that you have all your supplies handy, you are going to be working with two coffee filters at a time. Pull two off the stack and fold them in half.
Now take your halfed coffee filters and make a Z fold, or a tri-fold. Once they are both folded, they should look like small cones. Stack them one on top of the other.

Next you will take you two filters and pin them to the wreath.

And it’s pretty much as simple as that. Keep folding and pinning, filling in all the open spaces.

It took me a whole package of coffee filters to cover a small wreath. I would defiantly recommend getting two packages if you are going to be making a larger wreath.

After a while you will get something like this. Ready to have a ribbon added and hung on the walls of your home. Give it a go, it really is an inexpensive and easy project that looks really nice.

A Christmas Card Holder

So today I have a very simple little Christmas project for you.  Have you started thinking about Christmas yet?  I know its a little early, that’s why I won’t have a finished product picture for you today, because I will not actually be hanging this up until after Thanksgiving.  I just can’t decoarte for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but since I do have a baby coming soon after, I have been thinking a lot about the decorations in my home.
Today we are making a Christmas Card Holder.  Are you ready, its super simple.
All you need is some sheet music, or scrapbook paper & some clothespins & modge podge.

All you have to do is trace around the clothespin on your paper.  Then cut out the little strips.  Once you have done this, spread a thin layer of modge podge on the clothespin & lay down your strip of paper on the clothespin & finish with one more thin layer of modge podge over the paper.  The modge podge dries clear, so it is ok to put it on the top of the paper.  But by putting a layer of the modge podge on top of the paper it will help seal all the edges down.  If you do not put the layer on top the paper tends to roll up.  It’s as simple as that.  Let the clothespins dry.

I have a special place in mind for my clothespins.  I am going to use some twine to hang them and will show you my finished product after Thanksgiving and I get it hung up.  But there are many amazingly fun ideas out there for using the clothespin this holdiay season and hanging up your Christmas cards.  Here are a few of my favorites from Pinterest.  The first one was my original plan until I found a better place once I got home.  You can use a embroidery hoop & hot glue the clothespins on.
Or use an old frame and some ribbon or twine.
Or ribbons.
Or if you have old shutters this is beautiful.
Well I hope I gave you a little food for thought as the holidays are quickly approaching.  Make sure you come back tomorrow for a very special guest post!!!
Lindsey
